BFA Water Only fast

BFA WATER ONLY FAST

BFA Integrative Health and Wellness Centre, holds this type of fast every month because of the numerous benefits.

Kindly read especially if you are joining for the first time or if you are on MEDICATIONS.

General Water Only fast Guideline
Fasting is “voluntarily abstaining from food for spiritual or therapeutic reasons”.

What we are doing is a Spiritual fast but with therapeutic benefits.

Fasting is a scriptural means of humbling ourselves before God as the flesh and appetites are subdued. Matthew 23:12, James 4:10.

The responsibility of humbling ourselves falls on us not on God. David humbled his soul with fasting. Psalm 35:13. Ezekiel 33: 31-33.

The type of fasting we are doing this week is the WATER ONLY FAST. This allows only the intake of water for the duration of the fast.

Apart from Spiritual benefits, this type of fast also aids the body in the quickest and most thorough nerve energy restoration, detoxification and repair possible. During this period, the body feeds on its own reserves, hunger is usually absent. Of course, you may experience hunger pangs and other discomforts the first day or two but this usually subsides by the third day.

Most times people confuse hunger with appetite.
There are two main reasons while we advocate the water therapy or Water only fast- it works well both for therapeutic and spiritual reasons.

Some people can do this on their own, but some others may need to be supervised. And where there are serious health issues, they must be physically present at our Clinic where a team of experts will guide them through the process.

Although the general rule is to stop ALL medication while fasting or undergoing this therapy, HOWEVER, EXCEPT YOU ARE UNDER SUPERVISION BY AN EXPERT, THE IMMEDIATE CESSATION OF SOME TYPES OF MEDICATION CAN RESULT IN FATAL CONSEQUENCES.

The body reacts to the withdrawal of certain powerful drugs with violent and dangerous results. Certain drugs like cortisone MUST be avoided as much as possible. However, those on drugs can begin the process of easing off by undergoing a partial fast which involves light meals of fruits/vegetables and natural juices preferably with the “chaff” (not more than 3 or 4 glasses a day for starters). The food acts as a buffer while the toxic deposits associated with the drugs are being eliminated. This also should be done under supervision especially in bedfast people.

But those who are not on any medication at all can undergo this fast without any supervision.

The water only fast is best done during a period when you can get some rest, away from demanding assignments because the energy being exerted will rob the body of the one it needs for the cleansing. The fast sometimes comes with weakness, restlessness, irritability, headaches when you begin initially. The body needs to rest and conserve its energy to eliminate toxins and begin the process of repair of body cells, tissues and organs.

When food supply is cut off, the body burns fuel reserves stored in the bodily tissues and fluids and at the same time begins the process of breaking down toxic deposits throughout the body.

As you progress, observe changes like foul breath, coated tongue (which clears over time), foul body odor sometimes and weakness.

These are all signs of the detoxification going on inside the body. The coated tongue for example tells that something is going on inside your body. I am sure we have been asked to “stick out your tongue”, during a visit to a doctor! What most doctors do once they see a coated tongue is to prescribe medications because that is a sign of disease!

Being on a water only fast , the body begins the process of flushing out the toxins from the body, but if you ingest drugs because of the alarm of disease, it will stop the toxic elimination the body had initiated in an attempt to get well.

This is a FAST. Let us maximize the moment. Be Expectant! Draw up your goals. A lot can be achieved in 5 days. This might seem like a very long fast but focus your eyes on the results you want to see. And as we progress, let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne. Heb 12:2.

The question for you is this, what joy has been set before you? Is it worth denying yourself those food you love so much?
